Academy of Arts provides an accommodation in the Student Dormitory, Kollárova 20, Banská Bystrica with a total accommodation capacity 136 beds, for the guests during the summer holiday - in the months: July, August, September and at the weekends, in the two twin-bedded rooms exclusively with its common sanitary facilities in each cell. The price for an accommodation in the Student Dormitory is 16,00 € per person and night (accommodated two persons in twin-bedded room), 23,00  per person and night (accommodated one person in twin-bedde room). Student Dormitory of Academy of Arts is classified to category: tourist Dormitory, class **.
holidays in the months of July, August, September and on weekends, exclusively in cells - two double rooms have shared sanitary facilities: toilet, sink, a shower

Conditions for granting an accommodation in students´ dormitory

When selecting students for accommodation, the procedure is according to Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on universities on amendments and additions to certain laws as amended, AU Directive no. 124 – of the dormitory regulations of the Academy of Arts Student Dormitory and its amendment no. 1 and amendment no. 2.

The number of places for accommodation for AU students is determined by the Director of the Students´ Dormitory, depending on the total capacity of the Students ´Dormitory. The total number of places in the dormitory designated for accommodation for AU students will be divided by the director of the dormitory into three groups - for students of the AU Faculty of Performing Arts, students of the AU Faculty of Fine Arts and students of the AU Faculty of Dramatic Arts, according to the percentage of the number of full-time students in the I. and II. degree at the relevant AU faculty as of 31.10. of the previous calendar year on the total number of AU students on the given date. 

216 students of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica applied for accommodation in the Students´ Dormitory of the Academy of Arts in the 2022/2023 academic year. The Students´ Dormitory of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica does not provide rental mediation and contractual accommodation with other purpose-built facilities.

 

Application for accommodation

Application for accommodation in SD AU for next ac. year 2023/2024, the students of AU have to register in the academic information system AiS2, on the website https://ais2.aku.sk/ - from 01.02.2023 to 31.05.2023. The decision of assigning/not-assigning of the accommodation will be send in AiS2 until 30.06.2023.

The decision on allocation/non-allocation of accommodation will be published in AiS2 by 30.06.2023 (inclusive).

Criteria for allocation of accommodation for incoming Erasmus + students 

Erasmus+ student have to send the request for accommodation to the director of the student dormitory by e-mail to the address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. no later than 31.07. of the respective calendar year.

Is taken into account the student's social situation, the time availability of AU by means of public transport from the student's place of permanent or temporary residence, the student's state of health, academic achievement (Section 98, paragraph 2 of the Act on Higher Education, as amended later), while the Director of Higher Education can proceed according to Art. IV. para. 6 of AU directive no. 124/2020 – dormitory rules of the Students´Dormitory AU and its amendment no. 1 and amendment no. 2.

The applicant attaches a scan of the original valid document to the social situation in AiS2:

- confirmation of receipt of benefit in material need
- confirmation/statement of income for social scholarship from the tax office
- annual settlement of tax advances
- confirmation of receipt of disability or old-age pension from the social insurance company
- confirmation of receipt of orphan's pension

To describe the health condition of the student, the applicant for accommodation attaches in AiS2 a scan of the original student's disability; furthermore, only postoperative or post-traumatic conditions of a student not older than 3 months - attach a scan of the medical post-operative, post-traumatic report of a student not older than 3 months.

After registration of the application for accommodation in SD AU in AiS2 - points for the application will be allocated by June 30 of the relevant calendar year.

The amount of accommodation fees depends on the total operating costs, the price of monthly rent for a student of the Academy of Arts is set at €55 for one bed and one calendar month, with payment for the entire semester in advance.

The results on the allocation of accommodation and the results on the non-allocation of accommodation will be published in AiS2 by 30.6. of the relevant year. Against the decision not to allocate accommodation in Students´Dormitory (SD) in the second round on August 4, the student can file an appeal with the director of SD AU within 15 days from the date of delivery of the decision in AiS2. The director of SD AU in cooperation with the rector of AU will decide on the appeal within 15 days from the date of delivery of the appeal in AiS2 (AU Directive No. 124/2020 – Dormitory Regulations of ŠD AU, Article IV, point 8, and point 9. , Addendum No. 1, Addendum No. 2 to the dormitory rules).

Quality of the accommodation

The purpose-built facility Students´ Dormitory of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica (SD AU) is included in the category: tourist hostel, class: **.

Accommodation students have a full-area internet Wi-Fi connection.

The Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica provides accommodation in the Students´ Dormitory, Kollárova 20, Banská Bystrica with a capacity of 136 places, for guests during the summer holidays in the months of July, August, September and during the academic year on weekends exclusively in cells: i.e. two double rooms share a bathroom: wc, sink, shower. Room equipment: two separate beds (quilt, pillow, bed linen), desk, 2 chairs, 2 bedside tables, wardrobes, shelves. The common kitchen equipped with cookers, microwave oven and kettle (without crockery) is on I., II., III. floor of SD AU. Students´ Dormitory has a common room available for accommodated students of the Academy of Arts.


Payments terms

  • for the winter semester: on the day of moving into accommodation, no later than October 1, in the total amount of €220 (for 4 months: October, November, December, January) aliquoted amount from the amount of the monthly rent when moving into accommodation in September
  • for the summer semester: until February 1, in the total amount of €275 (for 5 months: February, March, April, May, June)

Note: The amount of rent cannot be reduced
